Why the Lab
This isn't a salon.
It's a lab.
Shawnie's Loc Lab was built on the belief that natural hair care deserves the same precision and rigor as any science. Every appointment is a formula. Every result is by design.
Precision
Every loc is treated with intention. No guesswork, just expert hands and proven technique.
Science
Hair health starts at the scalp. Formulas, methods, and results you can see.
Culture
Locs aren't just hair. They're identity, legacy, and art, and we treat them that way.
The Community
Built different.
Proven by results.

Meet the Founder
Hi, I'm Shawnie.
I'm a loc specialist, educator, and entrepreneur based in Lansing, Michigan, right on the campus of Michigan State University. What started as a passion for natural hair turned into a full-on movement, one client, one loc, one formula at a time.
At Shawnie's Loc Lab, I combine technique with science to deliver results that last. Every service is intentional. Every product is tested. Every client leaves feeling like themselves, just elevated.
Beyond the chair, I educate, I podcast, I stream, and I build. This lab is bigger than hair. It's a lifestyle.
